The Shipping Department handles all matters pertaining to the sales & purchase and disposal of vessels, arrest of ships, drafting of loan and security documents in respect of ship financing, registration, mortgage and discharge of vessels, loan recovery for ship mortgages. The Department also does recovery matters for underwriters, P & I Clubs and ship owners etc., under subrogated claims in connection with hull & machinery claims, cargo claims in carriage of goods, bailment cases, ship collisions, salvage and general average matters, towage, maritime lien matters and liability of port operators and managers.
The Department also deals with all aspects of marine and general litigation, in dispute/claims which involve collisions, multi-modal transportation, towage, charterparties, shipping/transportation contracts, marine oil pollution, laytime & demurrage, bunkers, ship handling, agent disbursements, international sales of goods, C.I.F. and F.O.B. contracts, freight forwarders and non vessel-owning common carriers (NVOCCs).
The Department further provides legal advisory, consultancy and litigation services in connection with marine and non-marine insurance policies/ claims, total loss, salvage and general average claims, fire and explosion claim.
